Schools reopening

Yeah here too! I was freezing on the way there. On the way back not so much cause my rucksack weighed a ton and I was soon panting lol I think tomorrow is going to be even colder though cause there are no clouds in the sky.

That must have been exhausting with the rucksack too!
Oh no, I hope it's not too cold tomorrow :cold:

Our half term ends tomorrow sadly, I'm back to setting the alarm!! Our brake has been mired by positive covid tests, absolutely gutted, woke up on Monday to a blanket of much awaited snow - and a text with results from a test done on Sunday after a couple of coughs overnight!!! We're fine, it's felt like the kind of cold you'd usually ignore and still go to work with. We're stuck in until Tuesday though and it looks as the the snow will be gone by Sunday:brat:

Aww how sad with the timing :( I hope you're all feeling better soon :hugs:

Rags does this mean you still have to work from home even so?

It was up to me if I felt I wanted sick time or to work from home, no pressure from my work at all. My sister has complex support needs and has it too so I put through the sick week more for me to have the time to be there for her as I can't have any of her PA's in till we're out of isolation.

Hope your all ok @Rags and managed to have some snow days ?!

It’s finally the last day of term for us ! It’s DD1s birthday next week cannot believe she is going to be 8! So hopefully a nice enjoyable week ahead ! Hopefully we will have some sunny days and we can get out !

hope everyone else has a nice week off if your due one !
Then please only 2 weeks of home school before they are allowed back !

I am sooo in two minds about hoping for them to return on the 22nd. In several ways I obviously would love that but I am just not sure if I believe that it is safe now? Hmm.

My girls will only be back 2 1/2 weeks and then will have 2 weeks off for the Easter half term !

I really want my girls back in school but I am worried about the possibility of one of us getting sick again! DD1 already had it last year and it was so stressful!

We will make our final decision nearer the time. 3 weeks or so to go if they re open on 8 March !

So, what does everyone think Boris is going to say on the 22nd

I hope he doesn’t bow to pressure too much and re open everything too fast again otherwise I cannot help but feel we will head towards another lockdown !

Oh I don't know what to wish for! On the one hand I so wish the school could reopen, not just to be done with the homeschooling but mainly so the boys can get back to socialising.
But like you I worry that if they open too soon, we might end up with another lockdown. Somehow staying in one for a while longer seems less awful than getting out of one and then back in.

He usually just seems to go with what the public put pressure on him for. Usually a little later than he should though. Ive no idea what he will do this time.
I do want them to go back to school as I think the world needs to get back to some sort of normality now, but on the other hand if the infection rates go high again from reopening the schools too early then we will constantly be stuck in this lockdown cycle :(

This is exactly how I feel too ! I feel like we should open up schools and keep everything else closed . I do feel for all those with their jobs but I feel like our kids need to take priority

I agree ! We are just stuck in this lockdown cycle ! I do think we will have another lockdown in spring / summer and there’s for sure gonna be one in the winter ? . I just don’t know anymore . Do you think the vaccine will keep us out of lockdown once those have had their second dosage . I’m just happy my FIL with health issues had his vaccine 2 weeks ago and my mum is due hers next week .

NI seem to have decided a really confusing way to send kids back to school. Pre-school, P1, 2 and 3 start on the 8th March for 2 weeks then they have to be home schooled again for a week before the Easter hols while p12-14 go to school during the week of the 22nd. They haven't even said what the other year's will do yet but they won't be back in until after the Easter hols at least.

Hopefully the vaccine will prevent another lockdown. My eldest is on his second year of a 2 year speech and language class and he's missed so much of it :(

Hope your son catches up with his speech @salamander91 ! I’m trying to get some SLT for my 20 month old and it’s all just phone calls which is frustrating when you want someone to assess something but to be expected !

My girls are so excited to go back to school next week! I will miss them a lot and their presence in the house . But I won’t miss the home schooling and feel like this is DSs time to have 1-1 with me and work on his speech !

anyone else’s excited or dreading it ?!

Oh gosh I will miss my boys so much! I am trying not to think about it too much and just focus on the Spring holidays 2 weeks later!
Home schooling itself is ok-ish but them faffing around and not doing what they should is so so tiring. But I am also worried how Sebby will cope without the one on one attention he is getting now. The teacher told me the other day how impressed and pleased she was at the amount of work he has been doing and if I had any idea what could be done for him to help him keep up with this when he is back in school. :nope: no idea!
I think Sebby is happy to go back but Dom a bit less so. We shall see how it goes.
I must remember to have them try on their school shoes. I keep forgetting!

I'll miss mine too. I'm going to have to get them in a better routine before going back to school, they are waking up too late!

When will you start?
I will just do it short and brutal lol. I am thinking that one day of tiredness will naturally lead to an earlier night and that will get them back into their school routine. But they aren't getting up that much later than they need to anyway. They now wake at around 8ish and they will need to get up at 7:15.

I will have to start quite soon. They seem to be wide awake at bedtime!
