Arghhhhhhhh my insurance renewal is next week and I'm having such a horrid time trying to find a cheap enough quote! :( it was £180 a month last year, now I can't find anywhere willing to go less than £120 a month - silly companies

I really want to be able to keep my car so that I still have my freedom and will be able to take baby on days out much easier so we don't end up stuck in all the time whilst I'm on maternity! Anybody around 19-20 and have cheap(ish) insurance? Xx

Maybe you can trade your car in for one that could give you a cheaper policy? I bought an H2 Hummer for my 18th bday and not only was the gas exapenaive as shitttt it made my insurance ridiculous...so I switched it out for a regular car and my nsurance went from 370 to 56 :happydance: its smart because you absoloutly need a car when LO is here but the money you're putting.in for the car will catch up sooner than later and screw you!! Goodluck!!!!! :flower:

I will be keeping my car I did think about selling it at first but as you have said I still want my freedom I also don't know what I am going to do about paying it while I am off work it's only £126 a month which I think is okay but still I am worring how I am going to pay for that every month along with my other monthly bills, I wish that they would make it cheaper for young people

I still have my car. I have no idea what my insurance is, I just know I give my dad £40 each month to cover it. I haven't driven since giving birth as my parents have been around and I haven't really gone anywhere. When I do start going out, when I can I'll probably walk or get a bus.

I don't drive, but was planning on starting this year as I turned 17 in December
So I have all the extra costs of learning, passing, and starting up with a car and payments.
I'll probably have to pay about £250 a month on insurance when I start!:/
Going to save up for all that though with my wages, as we already have enough money to buy everything for baby:)

I'm actually going to be upgrading my car as i have a KA (just finished paying it off) but my insurance is £37 a month and thats with 2 bumps (ooops) so mine will go up a bit bit but will still be ok x

Im still driving and keep planning to! :) Ive just sold my car which was a 1.4 and that was £85 a month to insure, ive now got a 1.6 16v which is £1700 a year and im paying that out right so monthly bills will hopefully become abit easier when bubba is here :) x

Wow I wish mine was that cheap! Mine was £455 last year so I'm guessing it will be around the £200 mark when I renew it on the 17th of this month :(

How come all you ladies have such cheap insurance? I know I'll be a new driver but £3000 a year seems totally unreasonable when you guys have it so cheap!!

Atm i have my 'Learners' and i drive my mums car with her in the passenger seat as being on your Ls you have to do that. When im 18 in december i am going for my 'Ps' which allows me to drive by myself with strict passenger rules. My pop is buying me a car worth $5,000 and me and OH are going to go halvies in personalised number plates for my 18th. Insurence is more expensive for P Platers as they see us as 'hoons' and we are new and most likely to crash.

Car rego is expensive aswell, and i have to pay for on road costs when i get my car. Having the baby bonus from the goverment will help alot there to help me get myself together so me and LO can go places and have freedom.
Thats my plan on keeping my car :p

Thank you all for replying!

I have a newish shape ford fiesta, 1.3 engine so nothing fancy! Lol so I couldn't really lower my insurance bracket to be honest :( £120 a month is good, just not when I'm only going to be getting less than £400 a month maternity pay and have a baby and rent to pay for out of that!

I don't have generous parents lol so they won't help me out even though they could :dohh: I've got £800 saved up because I was going to pay it off in one and be done with it (in April it looked to be going down to around that mark) but it's risen to £1300 just because of insurance going up on the whole this past month! And my policy needs renewing in 7 days so I'm not gonna get £500 in that time so it's gonna have to be monthly now :(

Muppet - its because of age and I'll have years no claims which knock it down dramatically! I was paying nearly £200 a month first year at 17, £180 last year and it's dropping to £120ish a month this time round. Insurance has gone up the past few months too so new drivers get done over really, it's bad! x

I don't understand how you're paying so much per month. I'm needing to buy a new car as my old car got written-off because an idiot ran a give way sign and smashed into my car.
I'm getting a Toyota Corola Sedan, I'll be 20 (at the end of this month) and have held my license for 3 years. I converted how much my insurance company is planning on charging me per month and it's about 58 pounds. Have you looked for insurance companies that specialise in helping young drivers? Because 120 a month is just ludicrous, I couldn't afford that in my wildest dreams.

I'm in the UK thats why  mine is cheap compared to a lot of my friends x

I've got it down to £98 a month now! Wooooooo!!

Well that's a good bit of savings. Definitely would suggest going onto a car website and asking about insurance in the UK. You may find someone in a similar situation as you that has been able to save some money. The only reason why mine is so low is because my fiance did some leg work and found the best people, if it wasn't for him I'd be looking at about 75 to even 100 pounds a month for my car.

I'm in the process of looking for a car at the minute, me n hubby both had a car (him a scenic and me a c1) but we had to get rid of his coz it kept breaking down so at the min he's using mine as he needs it for work. But I'm looking for a corsa 5 door as they have a big boot and I'll need it with 2 kids and they are a low insurance group.
This year my insurance was 56 a month but that's with my hubby on it and he's over 25 so it lowered it but it will go up when I renew because I had a crash :dohh:

Awh, mines more at the moment because I had a crash that wasn't my fault :/ strange how they think that constitutes more of a risk in the future! It would be around £70 if I hadn't been hit! So annoying :dohh:

my insurance was 1300 for the year on a brand new 12 reg corsa, 1.2, with factory body kit, 17inch alloys, and lowered 20mm all factory standard, and thats fully comp. im only 18! try putting your excess up mines £500 but ohwelll!
it should go down to £850 when i get my no claims in october, i already been driving a year and a bit, but lost my no claims as i swapped insurance compaines! i was paying £176 a month!

That's really not fair that they are charging you for a crash that wasn't your fault. Why didn't you claim it on the other person's insurance? Because that's what I'm doing, because I don't want it on my paper work.

This is also what happened when I had my first accident someone crashed in to me but my insurance still went up :| then when it went back down again I had another accident this time it was my own fault well actually my sat-nav a diesel on the road but I still lost my no claims bonus so I have no idea how much mine is going to be when I come to re-new in August

I did claim it on the others insurance, mine paid nothing and it didn't affect my no claims but still causes an increase, you still have to declare it over here :dohh:

I live in a high risk area apparently too, that's a big factor.. Claiming my insurance is at my mums instead as its cheaper or I'd be paying over £2000 easily at my OH's :nope:

Done some tweaking and got it down a bit from my first post now so I'm ok, it's not going to be any less than that x
