I think this episode is quite shocking! Leaving a 10wk old baby to feed herself in her cot with a bottle at night!!!

Also, is it normal to give an 8 week old baby mashed up rusk? I thought babies shouldnt have anything other than milk until about 4 months or so? Is that right?

Thank God the baby has a good Grandma to help look after her!

No its not... Ive not seen the last episode, the whole series doesnt agree with me when Im hormonal :| xx

Ive not seen this, but judging by this post, i dont think i want to.
Leaving any age baby to feed themselves is just plain lazy imo.
And yes 10wk old babies shouldnt be having rusks.
Weaning should start at around 4mths with puree's and baby rice,
just 1 tiny spoonful to start.

Thats what I thought! The girl on this programme is awful. I am sure that there are so many fantastic teenage Mums out there - but they only seem to show the rubbish ones! Id rather see the good ones!

I have not seen it either might have a look on the i player later but omg 10 week old feeding itself is a disgrace they still need winding at that point the baby must of been uncomfortable with wind!!! How on earth can you expect a baby of that age to hold a bottle properly itself!!
And yes the actual guidelines they give you now for weaning babies is 6 months but my little boy was a hungry baby and I began to give him a little bit of baby rice a few hours before bed from about 15 weeks to help him sleep through the night but I am pretty sure any health visitor/doctor/midwife would be shocked at a baby getting solids at 8 weeks old!!
xx

I was a month off being 19 when i had my daughter, so i was a teen mum but
would never ever have considered doing the things some of these so called mothers
do with their babies.
The things ive seen on programmes like this just shock me, i didnt realise
the amount of people who seem to have no common sense what so ever.

That is exactly the same as me I was 2 months off being 19 when I had my first son and I think it is girls like that that give teen mums a bad name!! This time around I will be 25 when I give birth and feel a lot more confident but not from my age from experience with my son. I wont be doing anything different this time around as I believe I did a good job the first time around even though I was a teen mum!! xx

They purposely show the worse teenagers they can find though because its better 'entertainment'

It really winds me up, you dont see fantastic teen mums on there! x

it is terrible!!! she is terrible!!! poor baby being left to feed itself.....i did like the swing thing shes got though!!

I've not seen this series but from what I've read it just seems like yet more car crash TV. Anyone with a handle on the modern world knows that this kind of s**t goes off but do we really need a TV programme about it?

I'm not calling anyone that watches it because like I said above, it's car crash TV, you know you don't really want to see what has happened but somehow you can't help but take a quick look.

I sometimes wonder if the money spent on making these kind of programmes would have been better spent on trying to educate & rehabilitate some of the people the show features.

I often wonder what on earth TV will come up with next.

I'm shocked but not really surprised; I once saw a mum in Manchester arndale with a clearly newborn baby propped up on pillows and a bottle jammed in her mouth, and my sis used to know people who put mashed potato flakes in their babies bottle to help them gain weight at only a few weeks old. Now the recommended weaning age is 6 months, one of mine was ready at 4 months but my other two clearly were not and even by 6 months they just weren't interested at all so I had to start introducing foods then anyway because I've seen babies get fussy and consequently get anaemia etc if its left any later. BTW when my eldest sis was a baby in 1970 they used to say start introducing WHEAT cereal (even weetabix!) at six weeks; no wonder so many from that generation have coeliacs. I also used to know a guy who had a stomach ulcer and other problems and the specialists reckoned it probably stemmed from the fact his mum used to give him pureed banana and cereal from 3 weeks old, sometimes in place of milk because he had reflux. still that was a long time ago now and you'd think people would know better these days.

Tonights episode made me angry and I'm glad her mum rang social services in the end to help out!

That poor baby

oh my god me and my mum were horrified at this episode today esspecially when she put the little girl in her bed then stuffed the covers over her head no none of that is normal!!

Ooo i forgot to say earlier as much as i wanted to smack her in her gob (God stupid little girl), It shows on the show nicely not all teenage mums are the same look how well her sister has done . xxxxx

I have to say I didn't agree with the baby having her ears pierced either at such a young age - I think she was about 8 weeks at the start of the programme and they were already pierced. I think that's cruel but that's my personal opinion and I guess some people will disagree. x

i was 19 when i had my son and it made me relise what a great job i have done! and the 1st episode showed a young girl that boyfriend had died and she was having his baby she proved that not all teen mums are bad!

the girl from last night made me very mad shes the type that give teen mums a bad name! x x x

^^^^ I agree.

I used to watch these type of programmes before I was a Mummy but now I don't bother, they just annoy me too much. They just pick out the 'worst' people, knowing they will do things which will anger people, things which are 'wrong' - get people talking, which it does, and boosts their ratings. I actually feel pretty sorry for the Mums cos it's like they've been a bit used really :nope: :nope:

I refuse to watch this program, coz I know how much it would wind me up! They use the worst examples of teenage parents they can find, coz lets face it, if they found a bunch of mature, respectable teenagers that are perfectly good parents, it would be 'boring' and no one would watch it!
