When did you first get your test line as dark as the control line?

I’m 15dpo. I’ve been using cheap tests from Tesco to check progression / increasing hcg but I still haven’t had a test line as dark as the control line. I know the hcg is increasing because I had a two pack of the Clearblue digital tests that tell you how many weeks since ovulation; the first one I took said 1-2 and the second said 2-3, but I’m still concerned that the test line on these strip tests isn't as dark as the control line. Everyone else seems to have really dark lines by the time they have missed their period! These are my tests at 7dpo, 9dpo, 11dpo, 13dpo and the bottom one is from this morning 15dpo. Should I be worried that the line isn’t as dark as the control line? If anyone else used these tests, when did you first get the test line as dark as the control? Sensitivity on this tests is 25miu.

Mine was as dark as the control line at 14 dpo and darker then the control line at 15 dpo but I also used a FRER they tend to get darker faster then a cheapie test

Thanks for the replies! I’ve still got a few of these test strips to use. If my test line isn’t as dark as the control line by the weekend, perhaps I will run out and get a different brand test to try and see if its just these specific tests being a bit pants. Thanks again! So easy to get anxious and worried in these early days - after the initial euphoria I seem to have got stuck on running over everything that could go wrong rather than just enjoying being pregnant! :dohh:

Thank you! Will try to relax a little and not worry so much about the lines not being darker.

Wouldn’t worry too much about it. I have had some cheap strips which just take forever to get very dark but other tests have been fine. It’s probably just that particular brand

Your lines look great! With cheapie tests, it definitely took a lot longer for me to see the test line as dark as control line. FRERs definitely get darker faster. I saw lines equally dark on FRER about 14dpo but it seemed like it took weeks to see the same on the cheapie tests. I finally saw the test line darker than the control line on cheapie tests when I was about 6 weeks pregnant. If I were you, I'd just enjoy being pregnant and don't worry so much about progression :) I know, it's much easier said than done as I just found out I'm pregnant via IVF and was obsessed with daily testing for over a week, but I think your lines look great, especially for a cheapie test.

Thank you, and congratulations! I also conceived with assisted conception through a clinic so I think the anxiety is higher because, if things don’t work out, I can only “afford” one more attempt (and I say I can afford it very loosely - would much rather put the rest if my savings into baby items and raising baby!). I took another test today and think the line is slightly darker. I have one test left and will take that tomorrow, but after that will stop testing. Fingers crossed tomorrow’s test gives me the dark line I’m hoping to see! Thanks again for your kind comment x

I totally understand that. I'm 7 weeks pregnant and still took a cheapie test yesterday to make sure lol (I just figured I have 2 cheapie tests yet so might as well use them). I was starting to think we would never see a positive test prior to this pregnancy! We went through 4 rounds of IUI, 1 round of IVF, and a frozen embryo transfer to finally get pregnant so my anxiety is also at an all-time high. I'm constantly worrying about losing this pregnancy and am trying hard to just enjoy every day that I'm pregnant rather than focusing on what-ifs. So with all that said, I found myself having more anxiety and worry more than anything in the week after testing positive because I was so obsessed with daily testing (sometimes multiple times a day), and in retrospect, I wouldn't want to do that again because it gave me more anxiety than anything. I wish you a very healthy and joyous pregnancy <3

It sounds like it’s been a really difficult journey for you getting here, I’m so glad you’ve got your BFP now. I was incredibly lucky to catch on my first cycle with donor sperm. I wish I had stopped testing after the first positive too to be honest - I’ve caused myself soo much anxiety wondering why my lines were not as dark as all the line progression videos I watched on YouTube in my TWW! #-o Took the last cheapie this morning and the test line was even lighter! I got so worried that something is wrong, but went out and got a Boots test and First Response and both have test lines darker than the control, even though my pee wasn’t very concentrated because I’ve been guzzling water all day because I’m feeling so thirsty! So reassured now and definitely no more testing! I have my first scan on 20 July and can’t wait :wohoo:

Oh cheapies take forever for me. Like nearly 20dpo if I recall. Other brands like cb early, Wally, frer it’d be closer to 13-15dpo. Just be cautious because I started experiencing hook effect at like late 4w early 5w. I would suggest putting the tests down. I know it’s hard, and I don’t do it lol but your progression looks great and you’re feeling great. Take a deep breath and enjoy your pregnancy.
