I know this is a UK based sight so not a lot of GD diagnoses happen because you don’t routinely test for it, so I’m guessing I won’t find a lot of pregnant moms struggling with gestational diabetes.

but currently I’m really struggling with it. I’ve had it for my last 4 pregnancies and am trying to do low carb to keep my blood sugars under control, but I find it so frustrating that I can’t just eat whatever I want. I have no energy either. This morning we came back from vacation where I had almost no options for eating low carb, so I had highs a lot. Now I have absolutely no food in my house since I need to do a shop, so this morning I’ve ended up eating loads of cheese but also had crackers and a bit of cold cereal and I know that will be sending my blood sugar high, and I feel like crap right now. So tired and Ill.

I know I can go without insulin if I just can get a good meal and snack routine going but it’s just a struggle with what’s In the cupboard for the kids. I’m so hoping this baby is healthy and hasn’t suffered for the high blood sugar I’ve had so far.

Anyways I’m just feeling depressed about not being able to eat what o want.

Just need a place to vent about my blood sugars. I’m doing great with all my daytime numbers. Doing a bit of walking after lunch and some strength training after dinner for a total of 30 mins a day of activity.

Last week all my fasting numbers were 4.7-5.0. This week for some reason they’ve been 5.4, 5.7, and 5.3. I just had a phone call with the nutritionist and doctor yesterday so don’t have another for 3 weeks but really if they keep being high for a few days I’m supposed to call and let them know. Then they’ll put me on nighttime insulin :(

I’m really hoping to avoid insulin. We are not broke, but having to spend money on testing strips and then on top of that insulin, will be very hard on my budget. I also don’t care if I have to have it for a few weeks but now I’m barely 28 weeks yet so I’d have to do it for 12!?! That’s a long time!!

So last week for my bedtime snack I was doing a bit of vanilla Greek yogurt, sliced almonds and cheese. And a sip of milk in the middle of the night when I woke to go pee. So I’m going to try that again and see if it helps. It sucks that the numbers can change from week to week and something that works one week doesn’t the next. Really confusing and lame.

@Reiko_ctu I’m so sorry! My fasting numbers were so annoying too. Check out lily Nichols, she has great books and resources on GD.
