Hello, looking for advice/hints/tips. DS is 18 months old and I want to move him into his toddler bed in the next few weeks. I need the cot for my younger son who will be going into it in about 10 weeks, so I want to give DS plenty of time to adjust. I’m just worried about how he’ll be going into the bed. I had looked for zip sheets to help stop his falling out and losing the covers but they’ve been discontinued!

Could you get a bed rail? My oldest toddler bed came with a bed rail but for my second we had just your normal bed and had to purchase a bed rail to attach to bed.

I’m going to buy a bed rail at the weekend and see how we get on! Thanks

I moved my daughter right at 18 months. Overall went well and she loved it but rolls around a lot still and sometimes falls out despite their being a railing around the top half of the bed. Luckily the toddler bed is low to the ground (maybe 6 inches) and a shaggy rug or mat beside the bed prevented any injuries. If she falls out she just crawls right back in without really even waking up.

Good luck!

Just to update, I move him into the bed and he’s been brilliant. I was worried the first night was a one off, but nope, he’s been in it for 2 weeks and I’ve had no issues. It amazes me that during the day he climbs in and out of it if we’re upstairs, but at night he doesn’t even try to climb out!
