Is this weird??

My husband and I have settled on Alyssa for a first name for our baby girl.

I adore the name, and it's a name that we have both loved since we first started dating. My husband's initials are ABC and we really want her to have the same initials, so we have been on the search for a middle name that starts with B.

My husband suggested Alyssa Brooke.... but MY name is Brooke. Is that weird? He really loves it, but it feels a little egotistical to me. :wacko:

I think that's beautiful, and as well as making a tradition of the initials from your husband there will be a tradition of sharing your name too

Yes, I don’t think it’s weird. The kid generally gets the dads last name so it’s about time that the mum gets some of the recognition!
IMO middle names should be a family name anyway.

Kids are named after dads all the time and nobody bats an eye. I think having her middle name same as yours is just fine. Most probably wont even know her middle name anyway. And the two names go very well together

If you both like the name, what's the issue?

My uncle is Bill and his son is William. And I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it's also my grandad's middle name.

I think it’s a lovely name. We use family names for middle names so baby no.5 we decided to use one of our names as a middle name. It was a boy so has DH first name as his middle name. I say go for it! You are baby girls Mumma why not use your name in her name x

My parents were big on family names, my son, brother, dad, grandfather... as far back as we can go all have the same first name, Ds's middle name is after my mum's dad, I'm after mums mum, my sisters middle name is our mum's name - I love the tradition and the fact that all of the names are old names means none of us bump into lots of people with the same name as us.

My SIL did that for her dd, used her name as the middle name. I personally didn’t like it but I also think it doesn’t fit. Alyssa Brooke fits really well and flows nicely.
