Hi ladies,
I had my son on Feb 14th. He is my 4th child.
He was born early at 28 weeks. He is still in the hospital and I am exclusively pumping for him until he can start nursing. (So close!!!)
After giving birth, I bled for about 2 weeks. Then it stopped completely until the 4th week postpartum. I had some very light spotting that lasted 2 or 3 days then nothing for a day or two and then what I assumed to be my period on March 18th. It lasted about 5 days. I have not had any other bleeding since then.
My cycles are generally 28 days. I expected my period to start last Thursday and it did not. I also normally have some spotting 1 to 2 days before my period and I haven't had that either.
I say all this to ask, is it normal for the menstrual cycle to be messed up for the first few months after birth? Even after having the 1st period after giving birth?
With my other kids I had my normal cycles right on time starting at 4 weeks postpartum. I'm currently on day 34.
I did have a pregnancy scare last week when two FRER turned positive. I was just checking since I had not had my usual pre-AF spotting. My DH and I have had unprotected sex twice in the same week about 4 days apart. We were gonna use a condom but i assumed I had already ovulated and it was safe.
But I believe the tests were falsely positive because I was using the same plastic pee cup when I was pregnant. (I tested for almost 2 weeks after getting my initial positive test so there must have been some residual hcg. I did rinse the cup out after each use but it had not been properly washed.)
I have since taken a few more tests and the first response digital test was negative while all of the line tests (different brands) have had faint lines but I think they are evap lines or indent lines. So I do not think I am pregnant.
Sorry for the long post. Just curious to hear what others have experienced. Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this question.
