I am currently not pregnant, but we're ttc number 3.
I'm just sort of preparing myself for what lies ahead and wondered if anyone can answer a question for me.
DS1 was only 8lb 2oz (delivered at 40+5), but DS2 was 9lb 8oz (delivered at 39+6). I did not have GD. They were both natural deliveries.
I was 9lb 10oz at birth, but my mom had GD and I was weeks overdue, delivered through CS.
My OB told me that he was surprised DS1 was such a large baby for my size (now 8lbs seems tiny) so DS2 was a huge surprise.
I'm fearful that number 3 would be even larger. There were some minor bumps during DS2's delivery ( I assume due to his size). And one nurse flipped after he was born asking me about GD (I didn't have GD) and he had to have multiple blood sugar tests before they would discharge us.
Does anyone know if doctor's typically do any extra monitoring/ultrasounds/precautions for moms with histories of large babies? I'm worried a larger baby would mean complications before/during/after birth based on my experience of a totally healthy 9lber.
